meet the Owner: Jess COlson
Not even a bloody nose in her childhood front yard could stop Jess Colson from pursuing her softball dreams. A student of the game, Jess put in thousands of hours of practice in the very same program she would come to own decades later.
Jess began taking pitching lessons with NWS Fastpitch when she was just 12 years old. For the next 6 years, Jess and her dad would go to weekly pitching lessons with the goal of one day getting a scholarship to play softball in college.
After a successful high school career at Agawam high School where she helped her team appear in the DI Western Massachusetts Championship, Jess went on to play Division II softball on scholarship at Franklin Pierce University.
Ultimately, Jess transferred to Elms College after her freshman season. Her proudest accomplishment during her time at Elms came during her senior season when her team won the New England Collegiate Conference Championship in 2015 and earned an automatic bid the the NCAA DIII Tournament.
Once her playing days had ended, Jess knew she wanted to stay connected to the sport she loved. Jess joined the Elms College softball staff as a pitching coach, where she worked one-on-one with pitchers and catchers to maintain the flow of the game and processed in-game analytics to determine the best pitch or location for certain batters.
In 2019, Jess became the owner of NWS Fastpitch, completing the full-circle moment from 12 year old student to program owner and lead instructor.
Jess enjoys working with pitchers of all ages to learn their pitching goals, build relationships with students and families, and develop specialized training plans to help pitchers get to the next level.
